Material property

Barite (BaSO4) is a mineral consisting of barium sulfate. Crystal system is orthorhombic. It is a thick plate or columnar crystal, mostly compact and massive. Its chemical property is table, insoluble in water and hydrochloric acid, without magnetism and toxicity. Color is variable but is commonly found colorless or white, also blue, green, yellow and red shades. Luster is vitreous. Transparency crystals are transparent to translucent.  Hardness is 3-3.5. Specific gravity is approximately 4.0-4.6

USES

Lithopone pigment: Lithopone is a commonly used excellent white pigment as the filler in paint and plastics.

Various barium compound: in barite as raw material can produce barium oxide, barium carbonate, barium chloride, barium nitrate, barium sulfate, barium hydroxide and other chemical raw materials.

Barite in filler industry: barite powder as the filler adds to paint to increase film thickness, strength and durability.

Barite as the cement mineralizing agent: in cement production, the use of barite and fluorite compound mineralizing agent has obvious effect on promoting the formation and activation of tri-calcium silicate (C3S), and improved the quality of clinker.
