Mid-West International Mining Forum of Australia kicks off in Perth
Mid-West International Mining Forum of Australia kicked off in Perth on Thursday and " Partnerships&Possibilities" is the theme for this year.
Huang Qinguo, Chinese Consul General in Perth, said that mutual benefits and a win-win situation is the momentum for the sustainable development of China-Australia mining cooperation while addressing the forum.
He said the Australian mining industry has recently been keen to talk about and predict China's economic growth and relate to its impact upon the Australian mining industry and the Australian economy as a whole.
"This indicates that economic ties between China and Australia are very close. The rise and fall of the Australian mining industry is closely linked to China's economic development."
Huang said China has a solid grounding and the conditions for maintaining a medium-high rate of economic growth for the time to come. This will continue to create new opportunities for economic and trade cooperation between China and Australia.
However, Sino-Australian mining cooperation still faces challenges such as high labor cost, low production efficiency, lack of adequate infrastructure and some legal disputes, which Huang said makes Australian mining industry less competitive in the market and should be addressed by Australia in the future.
In order to further promote cooperation in the mining industry, Huang said the two countries should work together and actively create the ideal conditions for a mutually beneficial cooperation.
"Win-win is the cornerstone of economic and trade cooperation around the world and it gives continuous impetus to the China- Australia mining cooperation," he stressed.
Mid-West International Mining Forum of Australia, one-day forum this year, has become one of the most important annual gatherings in global mining industry.
